Sustainability Initiatives in the Union and Activities

Join the conversation on Twitter on Tuesday, September 20 at 3pm EST to share ideas and get inspiration regarding sustainable issues and initiatives. Student activities and unions can lead the way in making the campus more environmentally friendly. Have you considered your role in leading the discussion on campus to preserve the environment, economy and society?

  • Does your institution offer incentives for students who carpool?
  • Does your union have water refill stations?
  • Do you order organic or recycled cotton t-shirts for programs?
  • Tell us how you have successfully partnered with food services to bring local and/or organic produce to campus.

Please join us as we share ideas for making our campuses a better place for students.

#CUAD Tuesday, August 23, 2011

Join the College Union and Activities Discussion (CUAD) Tuesday at 3pm EST (search #CUAD on Twitter) to talk about Campus Traditions. Every school has traditions and annual events unique to their institution, as well as more common ones (Welcome Week, Homecoming, SpringFest, etc.). Share ideas on how to make such traditions unique to the school’s students and/or region. Are traditions the same as annual events?

Join the discussion and consider your role in creating and sustaining traditions that students remember. Think back to your college experience. What tradition stands out as a memorable event? Don’t miss the discussion tomorrow at 3pm EST.

Next #CUAD Chat Topic: Programming Board Structures #ACUI #TheNACA #StuAct

Join your peers for the next #CUAD Twitter chat on Tuesday, August 16th at 3pm EST. This week’s topic will be around programming board structures. Programming boards serve different purposes and are charged with different responsibilities across the country. So, this topic seemed perfect for sharing best practices and learning about how programming boards work. Another motivation for this chat is because some institutions are re-assessing how they do things.

We’ll talk about the events they are charged with doing, how they are compensated (if they even are), as well as their membership structure - just to name a few.

Have any questions that you would like to see asked? Just send us a twitter message (@cuad_mod). See you then.

#cuad Twitter Chat TODAY @3pm. Topic: Goal Setting.

It may be time to start formulating goals for the semester or for the year – but that doesn’t mean you’ve really sat down and taken the time to think them through. Join the #cuad Twitter chat today (Tues. Aug. 9th @3pm) to ponder goals that you would like set for yourself and for your students. Questions posed during the chat are meant to trigger ideas you already have, but may also touch on areas you might not have thought about yet. No wrong answers – this discussion will be a personal exploration that will be based on your personal experiences, but will engage others in the field going through the same challenges.
